McChesney is a leading media scholar, critic, and activist. He’s also University of Illinois Research Professor in the Institute of Communications Research and the Graduate School of Library and Information Science.

He's a prolific writer and frequent speaker. His new book is titled "Digital Disconnect: How Capitalism is Turning the Internet Away from Democracy." It represents 15 years of research. He calls it "the capstone of (his) career."
